This is the second audio book I have listened to recently where I'm pretty sure I would have liked the book much better if I'd read it rather than listened to it. I thought this one would work well as an audio book, because Valente's prose tends to be complex and voluptuous and I thought that listening at the slower pace of someone reading aloud would allow me to savor it. And maybe help out with a slight tendancy I have to wish she would just get ON already.
Didn't work. I just got more impatient. It didn't help that the narrator mispronounced a number of words, repeatedly. I ended up getting pretty frustrated with the whole thing. I persevered to the end, but I can't say I enjoyed myself. So why three stars? Because I could tell it was a good book, even if I wasn't liking it much.
Not sure I will re read it in text format, but I may, and I suspect that if I do I might end up rating it higher.
