Dune - Frank Herbert I first read Dune rather a long time ago, and it has stuck in my memory as being kind of a slog to get through. The second time around it turned out to be much less of a slog than I recalled. It is undoubtably an imaginative and well written story, the world building is particularly fine. I'm demoting it one star because, frankly, Paul annoys me a bit. I suspect he's going to grow up pompous.
